Sept 17'09 - NEURO ICU WARD
Waking up to these calf compressors wrapped around my legs was the ultimate spa experience. These air-filled sleeves massage the legs and promote circulation during surgery.

This is Dr. J. Rootman who is the Professor & Division Head of UBC Opthalmology & Visual Sciences. He specializes in vascular malformations of the orbit. He developed the surgery in the 70's and was the Second in Command Surgeon. Surgery went textbook and he advised me this morning that I would not require radiation as previously planned.

Another founding member of the Breath of Life Prayer Network, Annette Denny, came to pray with me the following morning after surgery. Both she and Val were surprised I had already been moved out of the Neuro ICU Ward.

Sep 19'09 - NEURO SCIENCES REG WARD (Beginning of the 2nd DAY POST OP)
Dr. R. Akagami is the Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC and he is a Cranial Base and Vascular Microneurosurgeon. He was the Head Surgeon of the team of surgeons. He was extremely pleased with the ease with which the surgery and reconstruction went. He discharged me from hospital right after this picture was taken [and I had only been in hospital one full day by this time].

Sep 19'09 - NEURO SCIENCES REG WARD (2nd Day Post Op)
Square steel staples were stapled into my head to keep everything together. The skull can feel pain and, amazingly, I did not need anymore morphine or pain killers after the first night. Another miracle!

Sep 19'09 - NEURO SCIENCES REG WARD (2nd Day Post Op)
My forhead, temple and eye socket portions of bone were all removed and rebuilt. The skin was peeled back to allow surgeons to cut into my forhead. As of today these portions are numb to the touch, but I have no pain! As well, I can see perfectly fine.

Sep 19'09 - NEURO SCIENCES REG WARD (2nd Day Post Op)
My jaw muscle was cut and then stitches went right up the side of my ear and continued onto my skull. I was to have a tightness and some speech problems as a result, but I could rattle off a storm the next morning. I had absolutely no side affects from the jaw muscle being severed.

Here I am with Dr. Marshall A. Dahl, who is the Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at UBC. I have known Dr. Dahl for 12 years and he was wonderful in checking in on me whenever he could. After this picture was taken, I was released from hospital and went home.

Sep 20'09 - AT HOME (3rd Day Post Op)
This is the view from my bed as I lay recovering at home. As I lay there looking at all of God's handiwork, I marvel at His grace and love for all of us. We may seem insignificant, but He knew each of us long before we were born.

Sep 20'09 - AT HOME (3rd Day Post Op)
It is the end of the third day since surgery and I am grateful to be home, held in the loving arms of my Heavenly Father. I am thankful to be in His care.....I wouldn't want to be anywhere else but by Him.
